When I first signed up to take Accounting 255 this summer at Illinois State Univerestiy I was very nervous because I have only taken one other online summer class my entire college career. When I read in the syllabus what all we would be performing in this class I got even more nervous because I knew it would take a lot of time to get all the work done and also find time to work at my job. It was all worth it in the end though and I learned many different things through the course of this class. I am going to be listing 14 different things I learned in Accounting 255 below.

Taking this summer course has taught me a lot that I did not know how to do. I feel that this will help me with the career I choose to partake.

Drive-In Theaters

Drive-In Theaters used to be poplar many years ago. People would gather up their friends and family and go to a local movie to watch it outdoors. Drive-Ins are becoming more popular again today.

Many people enjoy the fact that they can sit outside on a blanket or in their own lawn chairs and watch a movie outside while enjoying the beautiful weather at night. You also have the option to sit in your car and recline your chairs back while enjoying the movie. It can be much more comfortable and enjoyable then 

going to an indoor movie theater.

There are several advantages of going to a drive-in theater over an indoor theater.

1.       You can bring your own snacks

2.       You can talk without distracting others in the theater

3.       You can choose to sit outside or in your car

4.       More options for comfortness

5.       Opens a couple hours before the movie starts

Even though there are some advantages of going to drive-in theaters, there are also some disadvantages.

1.       You can only watch the movie at night

2.       The weather may not be good

3.       You will hear sounds of others around you

4.       People walk around during the movie

I feel that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. There are many experiences that you can have going to a drive-in theater that are not available at an indoor theater. Also, you are able to get more comfortable due to the fact you do not have to sit next to strangers and share an arm rest.

How to remove scratches from DVD’s.

There are many people who get movies and eventually they get scratches on them to where they will not play on a DVD player anymore or will skip. This can be very annoying and frustrating. Many times this happens to your favorite movies that you own and you do not want to go out and spend more money to buy that movie again. In this case there are a couple things you can try to get the scratches off your DVD.

The first thing you can try is going to a movie rental store and they have a cleaning machine that will get many of the scratches off the disc. Many places will charge a small fee of one to three dollars to perform this task. It is a safe way to get scratches off a DVD and will not damage the movie anymore than it already is. The only problem with this is it might not take all the scratches off the disc. I would definitely suggest doing this task first though before attempting the next option I am going to list.

If you find out that the machine at the movie rental stores did not fix your DVD, you can go to a local store and purchase Brasso. This is a home cleaner and polish that protects many items. It leaves a smooth polished surface and creates a beautiful shine. This is a good item to use on DVDs because it will take large scratches off. You will just need to put a very little bit of Brasso on a cotton swab. Gently polish the damaged area of your DVD using a small circular motion until the scratch disappears or at least tames the scratch. Now just rinse the disc and try playing it in your DVD player.

I would not try the Brasso if the disc only has a few scratches on it because it may ruin the DVD more and not be playable at all. I only suggest the Brasso if the disc does not play at all or is 95% unreadable. I have had several friends use this product on DVD’s that had scratches and it made their DVD’s look brand new and worked great. There is always that small chance though that it will make things worse. That is why I suggest using this product only if you have nothing to lose.

The Lone Ranger Movie Review

The Lone Ranger

This last Sunday I went to see the new movie Lone Ranger in Theaters. I am not a big fan of western movies but one of my friends wanted to see the movie so I decided to go with. I was caught by surprise that I actually enjoyed the movie. It has Johnny Depp who is an Indian in the movie and he makes the movie very funny.

The Lone Ranger is a Disney Movie that stars Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer. It is a thrilling adventure in which the famed mask hero is brought to life through new eyes. Tonto, the Native American spirit warrior, states the untold tales that transformed John Reid, a man of the law, into a legend of justice. This film takes the audience on a runaway train of impressive surprises and humor as the two heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.

Considering that the movie is a Disney film, you would think it would be okay for children to view this movie. I feel that many children could view the movie but there is violence and a lot of blood. There were a couple of times that I had to turn my head away from the screen because of the blood and other disturbing things that were shown in the film. Therefore, I feel that parents should view the film before they let their children see it.

I thought the movie was a good film and found it very interesting. There were many funny parts which is not surprising due to the fact that Johnny Depp is one of the main characters in the movie. It teaches people that you should go after what you believe is right and that it is possible to make friends with the people you least expect. Everyone needs someone in their life that believes in them and understands them.

Like I stated earlier, I am not a big fan of western movies but I found this movie very entertaining. There are several reviews on the internet that say the movie was boring and drug on. I do not feel that this is the case because every part of the movie lead to a main part. I would recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys action movies. Even if you do not enjoy western movies, give this movie a chance because you may find yourself surprised like I was.

In a previous post I have explained items that I am selling on a website for a profit. I thought I would describe these items in more detail and explain why I feel anyone would love to have these items. My products that I am selling all have to do with movies and would make great gifts for anyone who enjoys or absolutely loves movies. The material is 100% cotton so it is highly advised to get a larger size then you normally wear because it will likely shrink. Any man who enjoys movies would like this t-shirt because it is comfortable and looks manly. It would make a great gift for special occasions or holidays.

Bumper sticker: This item is $4.19 and comes in the colors white or clear. There is only one size available in this, which is 10”x3”. The bumper sticker says I <3 Movies. The colors of the writing are orange with a blue heart. It is printed on 4mil vinyl using water and UV resistant ink, which means no fading in the sun or bleeding in the rain. Anyone would enjoy this bumper sticker that enjoys movies. It can be given to both men and women and will let other drivers know that the person is a movie fan. It would make a great gift for any occasion or just because.
