How To Get Through a Scary Movie

Ways to Get Through a Scary Movie
Many people do not like to watch scary movies because they seem so realistic and the person is afraid they will have nightmares. There are many people who have friends or family who enjoy watching scary movies and the person does not want to seem like they are a wuss so they end up watching the scary movie anyway. There are several ways that a person can get through a scary movie even if they do not enjoy them or get scared too easily. I used to not enjoy watching scary movies, and sometimes I still have a hard time sitting through them. I find myself at night having a hard time falling asleep after watching a scary movie because I am afraid that someone is in my room coming after me. I also sometimes have nightmares about the scary movie up to a few days after watching the movie. Here is a list of ways to get through a scary movie if your friends or family want you to watch it with them. 1. Watch the movie during the day when it is still light out. I have found that it is easier to watch a scary movie during the day when it is light out because you see everything around you and it is less scary. This way when the movie is over you are not looking around thinking somebody is in your house about to do what happened in the scary movie. 2.Read what the movie is about before you watch it. I have found it a little easier to get through a scary movie if I know what to expect. Reading the back of the movie will help you get an understanding of what the movie is about and will help you get through some of the scary parts. Also, if you know what movie you are going to be watching in advance, you can watch the trailer for that movie and know what to expect. 3.Get some food. Get some popcorn or another type of snack before the movie starts so you can keep yourself busy while watching the movie. That way when a scary part comes up, you can look at the food without your friends knowing you are getting scared. 4.Sit between someone or next to someone. It is always easier to get through a scary movie if you are watching it with other people. This way you know that someone is there and it will be a little less scary. I for one cannot watch scary movies by myself, especially if it is at night. If you are sitting next to the person you are watching the movie with, you will feel more secure and safe during the movie. 5.Talk and joke with the people you are watching the movie with before it starts. This will keep your mind off the scary movie before you start viewing it. You will also still be smiling and laughing when the movie gets started so you will have something funny to think about during the scary parts. 6.Find the funny parts In some scary movies there is a little bit of comedy. Try and find these parts in the movie and it will keep your mind off of some of the scary parts. 7.Keep reminding yourself that it is just a movie. In the end, remind yourself that it is just a movie and this is not happening to you. There are many scary movies or horror movies that say they are based on a real story but that does not mean it is going to happen to you. In order to keep yourself calm you need to continue to tell yourself that it is just a movie and it is not real. 8.Have people stay the night at your house so you are not home alone that night. It is easier to sleep after watching a scary movie if you are not staying at home alone the night you watch the movie. You can have your friends stay the night or have your family stay the night with you. This way, when it is time to go to bed you know you are with other people and that nothing is going to happen. It will help you fall asleep easier. This is a list of eight ways to get through a scary movie. These ideas will help anyone who is afraid to watch scary movies and will help those people get through it.
